DVC Kick Start Program: Diablo Valley College’s Welcome & Connect Services is offering an additional enrollment support opportunity for seniors who are considering DVC after high School.  The DVC Kick Start Program is a series of zoom sessions where they work directly with students to help them complete each step of their enrollment process.   DVC will still visit Miramonte during the spring to provide their regular DVC presentation and workshop but Kick Start simply gives students who are already considering DVC the opportunity to start the enrollment process earlier and receive more step-by-step support along the way. The series of Zoom session will include: Informational Webinar | Tuesday, October 27th | 6-7pm An overview of the Kick Start Program, the enrollment process, and the benefits of participating. It is open to graduating seniors and parents/supporters.  Application Workshops | Dates and times will be posted as the program progresses Step-by-step guidance with completing the DVC application. Enrollment Workshops | Dates and times will be posted as the program progresses. Step-by-step guidance with completing orientation, English/ESL/Match placements, submitting the Special Admit Form, and enrolling in COUNS 095NC for academic advising.   Note: Students with IEPs/504s are welcome to participate in Kick Start; however, students planning to utilize DVC’s Disability Support Services (DSS) have a different enrollment process.  Kick Start workshops will focus on the general DVC enrollment process and not the DSS enrollment process. College Information Day & UC Berkeley Showcase: Saturday, October 24, 2026 | 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The East Bay Solano County Consortium/Cal-SOAP, in partnership with UC Berkeley’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions, invites middle school, high school, and transfer students—and their families—to join us for College Information Day & UC Berkeley Showcase. This signature outreach event offers an exciting opportunity to explore higher education options while experiencing the UC Berkeley campus. Attendees will have the opportunity to: Learn about the college admissions process, financial aid, and college readiness. Meet representatives from colleges, universities, and other postsecondary programs. Connect with UC Berkeley faculty, staff, and students. Explore campus resources and student support services. Participate in guided campus tours and interactive activities. Whether you’re just beginning your college journey or preparing to apply, this event provides valuable information, resources, and inspiration to help you plan your path to higher education. Walnut Creek Arts + Rec is hosting their 7th annual Trunk or Treat in downtown Walnut Creek at Civic Part on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. This family-friendly event includes a fun Trick-or-Treat Lane, activity booths, face painting, games, and lots of candy. Navigating College Admissions - Senior Parent Presentation |  September 16th | 6:30 PM | MHS Theater
This week, seniors will attend a presentation during Academy on the college application process and post-secondary planning. The Senior Parent Presentation will be covering information shared with the seniors and some parent-specific topics around college admissions.  

International College Fair | September 9 | 6:00-8:00 PM | Campolindo High School
Almost 40 international universities will be represented .  The “Why Study Abroad?” information session starts at 6pm followed by the fair. Register here 

CSU College Night | Thursday, September 17 | 6 - 8pm | Oakland Marriott City Center
This is a free in-person event where students and families can meet with representatives from all 22 California State University campuses. Register here

LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

We are working on confirming local scholarships being offered to students in the Lamorinda area, and will publish them in January when the details become available to us.  We also get emails about small, independent scholarship opportunities that may only apply to a specific population (i.e. Italian heritage, military, etc.).  We are keeping a notebook with those opportunities in the office if students want to come in and explore these one-off opportunities.
